CALCITE (Var: Glendonite) (pseudomorph after IKAITE) |

| For sale is a unique pseudomorph of calcite (var: glendonite) after ikaite partially exposed within a spherical mudstone concretion. The glendonite forms an orangish-brown stellate aggregate of pyramidal crystals, formed in very cold water conditions rich in calcium and carbone/bicarbonate ions. Ikaite is metastable and readily pseudomorphs to calcite once removed from near-freezing water. These first came to the market in the early 1990's and are not common on the market today. The specimen is undamaged and comes with a specimen label.
