MIMETITE (Var: Campylite) |
| For sale is a beautiful cluster of mimetite (var: campylite) crystals from the Dry Gill Mine in the rugged Caldbeck Fells of Cumbria, England (see mindat.org page). The Dry Gill Mine is historically insignificant as an ore producer, but is world-famous to specimen collectors for its mimetite crystals, specifically in the campylite variety. This specimen exhibits rich caramel-colored curved barrel-shaped crystals, some looking like a budding flower, associated with botryoidal manganese oxide and euhedral quartz crystals. Some of the manganese oxide forms small dendrites at the base of the specimen. This is a wonderful example of this highly sought after species. The specimen is in very good condition as shown in the photographs. A specimen label is included.
