 APATITE |

| For sale is a double-terminated deep-blue apatite crystal from Brazil. The apatite is nearly full all around with a few rough areas. The apatite crystals from this locality are slightly radioactive due to the presence of uranium- and thorium-bearing oxides in microfractures. I used an HGC-1 Hays Precision Detector to measure the radiation emitted from this crystal (detected 0.016 MR/hour, twice background levels).
APATITE Pedras Altas, Capim Grosso, Bahia, Brazil (Located 60 km N of Ipirá) Specimen is 3.5 x 2.1 x 2 cm (1-3/8 x 13/16 x 13/16 in) |
